Laparoscopic Surgeries have a faster recovery period and leave patients with little or no scar.

Laparoscopic Surgery or Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique. It is utilized to detect and treat many reproductive health issues. A Laparoscopic Surgery allows our physicians to examine and/or perform a procedure on reproductive organs through a small incision on the abdomen. A harmless gas is used to insufflate the abdominal cavity. The Doctor then inserts a thin scope into the incision to visualize and access the treatment area.

The small size of the incision and reduced number of incisions needed to perform a Laparoscopic Surgery provides a decisive advantage over traditional (open) surgeries. These advantages include a faster recovery, reduced risk of infection, less pain and a smaller scar. Typically the incision from a Laparoscopy only requires one to two stitches. For this reason a Laparoscopy is also referred to as a keyhole surgery or a “bandaid” surgery.

The majority of women are able to go home the same day Laparoscopic Surgery is performed. Laparoscopies are considered an out-patient surgery.

During a Laparoscopic Surgery a Doctor can diagnose and treat ovarian cysts, scar tissue adhesions, endometriosis, or ectopic pregnancies. A women’s uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries can be accessed during Laparoscopic Surgery.
