It is recommended that a Pap Smear Test be conducted every two to three years from age 21-30. More often, if having any abnormalities. After the age of 30 it is generally recommended that a Pap Smear Test be conducted every three to five years unless high risk HPV is present.

If you have had a previous diagnosis of a gynecologic cancer, it is recommended that you continue to receive routine Pap Smear Tests. If your hysterectomy was done for benign reasons, then Pap smears may be discontinued.
