EndometriosisEndometriosis is a medical condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium, grows outside the uterus. This often affects organs in the pelvic area, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the tissue lining the pelvis, but it can also spread beyond these areas in rare cases. These misplaced tissues behave like normal endometrial tissue-thickening, breaking down, and bleeding during the menstrual cycle-but because they have no way to exit the body, this can cause inflammation, pain, and the formation of scar tissue. Symptoms of endometriosis include severe pelvic pain, heavy or irregular menstrual periods, infertility, and discomfort during intercourse or bowel movements. The condition affects millions of people worldwide, yet its exact cause remains unclear. While there is no definitive cure, treatments such as hormonal therapy, pain management, and surgery can help alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. Early diagnosis and proper medical care can make a significant difference for those living with this challenging condition.
